Rebuilding the Economy and Lowering Taxes

Joseph Severino’s aim as a candidate for Governor of Illinois is to avert the state’s financial crisis through a comprehensive plan that includes restructuring the state’s debt, eliminating waste, corruption, cronyism, and lowering taxes. His administration will focus on reducing or eliminating property taxes for seniors and reassessing property taxes for individuals without children in schools to provide financial relief. Additionally, under Joseph Severino’s leadership, families with a combined household income of less than $750,000 will be exempt from state income tax, fostering greater economic opportunity and stability for Illinois residents.

Putting Parents Back in Charge of their Children’s Education

As a candidate for Governor of Illinois, Joe Severino is a staunch advocate for school choice, believing that education funding should follow the child without restrictions and championing homeschooling as a critical option for families. Recognizing parents as the primary educators, Joseph is committed to curbing the overreach of external influences, particularly the Chicago Teachers Union’s political agenda in classrooms. His agenda leverages the power of the pursuit to enforce accountability, establishing rigorous merit-based programs for educators, where promotions are based on test score results and classroom performance rather than patronage. Additionally, Joseph is dedicated to raising academic standards, focusing on preparing students for a successful future by elevating expectations rather than lowering the bar to boost graduation rates. As a father of five children, four of whom are girls, Joseph is a vigorous fighter for protecting women’s sports and locker rooms, ensuring men are excluded from these spaces and advocating for female athletes to compete in fair environments under Title IX, safeguarding equal opportunities for girls across Illinois.

Protecting Our Community and Keeping Our Families Safe

On his first day as Governor of Illinois, Joe Severino vows to prioritize the safety and security of Illinois citizens by taking bold action. He will immediately move to end Illinois’ status as a sanctuary state, ensuring that illegal criminals, whether in penitentiaries or elsewhere, are identified and removed to protect communities. Additionally, Joseph will abolish the SAFE-T Act on day one, restoring accountability by holding criminals responsible for terrorizing citizens. Through tough policing and a robust, statewide police presence, he will work to significantly reduce crime and enhance public safety, ensuring Illinoisans feel secure in their neighborhoods.

Constitutional Rights

As a candidate for Governor of Illinois, Joe Severino is a staunch constitutionalist, unwavering in his commitment to upholding the constitutional rights of Illinois citizens. A firm believer in the First and Second Amendments, Joseph opposes any undue burdens, taxes, or fees that infringe upon these fundamental rights. To ensure their protection, he pledges to void any associated fees and eliminate restrictions that hinder the free exercise of these inherited constitutional rights.
